Serenity

"Serenity" is made from the fallen clippings of a King palm frond. These pieces are actually from the point of connection on the tree where the leaf attaches. As the tree grows, the leaves slowly dry out and die to make room for the new growth. The movement of the wind in the separation process from the tree creates these beautiful twisting shapes which I have attempted to accentuate with contrasting paint and shellac. It is 5ft x 2.5ft x 1ft, weighs approximately 2 lbs. and hangs from two points of contact with the wall.
